Getting Stuff Done With A Hangover And Other Miracles
Review by Kieryn Wang

I had no idea my day off would turn into one of my most productive weekends ever—hangover and all.
Ever since I started smoking regularly, I stopped drinking as much. When I was younger, I used to power through the headaches, the redness from my Asian glow (too real), the nausea—all of it. Well, I definitely don’t have that kind of patience anymore, so if I decide to go out for drinks, I heavily pad it with cannabis before and after. That said, I don’t recommend smoking after drinking for everyone as it can potentially result in the spins. Pro tip: If you’re going to smoke, do it before you drink or only after you’ve reached your final destination for the night. The trick is finding the perfect combination to keep the hangover away or at least at bay.
“Much like vitamin C fighting off cold symptoms, Gabriel’s Sunny G kicked in and kicked out my sad, hungover fog.”
That’s where Sunny G by Gabriel Cannabis comes in. What kind of memories does that name bring to mind for you? For me, I think vitamin C, summer, grass (the club soccer kind, but totally fitting here), and long afternoon naps. Expect Sunny G to deliver on all of those fronts. Sunny G is the lovechild of
Luckily for me, Sunny G was ready to save the day. Much like vitamin C fighting off cold symptoms, Gabriel’s Sunny G kicked in and kicked out my sad, hungover fog. Each hit was smooth, not too harsh on the throat or lungs. I don’t know about you, but the last thing I want after a night of drinking is a rough smoke. While the taste was mostly diesel-like for me, the aftertaste turned into a wonderful combination of citrus and herbal notes, which was pleasantly surprising. The first hit of Sunny G loosened up my neck and shoulders. I was a bit disappointed that my headache wasn’t immediately addressed, but fortunately I didn’t have to wait long. Two more hits and the high spread from my body to my head. The stronger head high helped me forget my headache, and I recommend adding CBD via tinctures or edibles for even more relief. The physical symptoms of my hangover began to disappear, but honestly that’s not the main reason I would recommend this strain.
Put simply, Sunny G helps you get shit done. Both times I tried this strain I was hungover (the second time mostly to confirm the first). Both times I started out watching TV and both times somehow ended up with my laptop open, answering emails, and crossing items off my to-do list. If you’re looking to truly get lost in a workflow, pick up some Sunny G. If you need help vacation planning, vision boarding, or generally tapping into your creative side, it’s Sunny G all day, every day. To activate that creativity even further, I suggest pairing Sunny G with Gabriel’s Pineapple Express, another uplifting hybrid. All of their strains are quite reasonably priced, most of them $27 for two grams. Remember this is quality, pesticide-free flower you’re getting, which to me, makes it worth every penny.

Sounds too good to be true? I will say I did get a twinge of paranoia after too much Sunny G. Too much can also lead to fatigue and nap time, so be careful that you don’t turn productivity into sluggishness. I really appreciate the fact that Gabriel is not shy with their information either, so I can head to their site any time I’m unsure of a strain’s THC percentage. If a strain with 20%+
Look, this strain surprised the hell out of me. I had no idea my day off to watch TV and zone out would turn into one of my most productive weekends ever—even with a hangover. So long story short, try this strain. You won’t regret it.
